Oregon AG Applauds Injunction to Stop DOGE From Accessing Sensitive and Private Treasury Information

A preliminary injunction against the Trump administration and DOGE to prohibit access to private Treasury information is applauded by Oregon Attorney General Dan Rayfield. The injunction was issued by the U.S. District Court on Friday, following a lawsuit brought by 19 states, including Oregon.

Rayfield Says His Office Will Fight Federal Overreach Moves

The AG says the injunction will ensure the federal government ‘follows the law’ and assures that his office will continue to ‘fight for Oregonians and protect our public agencies from federal overreach.’

Rayfield describes the federal government move as ‘reckless,’ risking exposure of sensitive personal and financial information, and reminds that the government belongs to the people of America, and not to people ‘who think they can control it with their wealth and power.’

The lawsuit contends that the Trump administration provided Elon Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) with ‘unauthorized access to the Treasury Department’s central payment system’ which opened the door to accessing sensitive personal information such as banking details and Social Security numbers.

The injunction concludes that the coalition of 19 states will likely prove that the ‘chaotic and haphazard’ Treasury DOGE team seriously risked confidential and sensitive information.

Unclear if the DOGE Team Underwent Security Clearance

The U.S. District Court found that DOGE was given access to Treasury systems despite minimal, ‘if any’ training, and it is also unclear whether team members underwent security clearance and vetting.

The court goes says President Trump’s executive orders do not justify the ‘flawed process’ and ordered a report-back from the Treasury within a month, showing that DOGE team members underwent proper training and vetting.
