Community Hearings On Federal Firings And Doge Funding Freezes
Oregon Attorney General Dan Rayfield will join Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes and New Mexico Attorney General Raul Torrez in the national Community Impact Hearings hosted by the group of Attorneys General.
The AGs want to hear from the public about the impact of federal firings and DOGE funding freezes across the country on issues from public safety to healthcare.
The current action by AGs follows several others, including:
- An injunction was issued last week to stop DOGE from accessing sensitive and private Treasury information in a lawsuit brought by 19 states, including Oregon.
- An Oregon-led coalition of 22 AGs is fighting Trump’s illegal Medical Research cuts.
Rayfield said, “The firings of many of our federal workers and the mess created by DOGE has created turmoil in people’s lives.”
People affected by the federal firings and funding freeze, from representatives of cities, counties, non-profits, agencies, health care institutions, research institutions, former federal employees, and community members, are encouraged to attend and share a statement.
At the town halls, the public will also be able to hear directly from the Attorneys General about what they’re doing to protect people.
