Oregon-Based Component Among Illegal Exportation of Aviation Parts to Russia

An Indian citizen from Delhi has been accused of the illegal exportation of aircraft components to Russia.

An Altitude and Heading Reference System from an Oregon-based supplier was among the components listed for exportation.

 

Indian Citizen Sanjay Kaushi Indicted

Sanjay Kaushik (57) has been indicted for violating the Export Reform Control Act by the U.S. Attorney’s Oregon District Office.

He entered a plea of not guilty when he appeared in the federal court in Portland on Friday.

Kaushik could spend up to 20 years behind bars for conspiring to export controlled aviation components with dual military and civilian applications to Russian users.

He is also charged with making false statements about the illegal export of a navigation and flight control system.

Kaushik can also be fined $1 million for each charge.

Court documents show that Kaushik used false pretenses when stating that the components were purchased for his company in India.

A trial by jury is scheduled for January 21, 2025.
