OSU won the toss and elected to defer to the second half. In the Beavers’ opening drive, two penalties ensued after McCoy hit Jermaine Terry II in the hands with a short pass over the middle, and Gabe Kirschke ultimately corralled it for a pick.
But in a game with double overtime, there were many plays that made the fans happy:

With 7 seconds left in the first overtime, Hankerson scored a touchdown, right up the gut. It put OSU in the lead at 14-10 with three seconds left in the first half.
- In 2OT, Hankerson scored a 25-yard touchdown run earning him a career-high of 113 yards and two scores.
- The Beavers stopped the Rams twice on fourth-and-goal and in the game’s final possession, the Rams fourth-and-goal from the 10. The ball was thrown out the end zone by Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi but a pass interference call gave the Rams a new set of downs from the 2. The Beavers also stopped the Rams three times after that and a penalty helped make it fourth-and-goal from the 11.
- Quarterback Gevani McCoy ran 91 yards with 3 TDs for OSU, finishing 16-of-28 passing and one interception.
