Oregon Torturer and Kidnapper Featured in Netflix True-Crime Series
“Dating the Devil” is a story about Oregon torturer and kidnapper, Benjamin Obadiah Foster, and is the first episode in a violent and gritty new Netflix true-crime series, “Worst Ex Ever.”
Oregon-raised Foster, who lived near his parents in Grants Pass where he worked as a bartender, started dating Justine Siemens, a coworker, in 2021. At the beginning of 2023, Angela Milner visited Siemens at her house. On arrival, she heard screaming inside the house and called 911.
On entering the property, Milner saw Foster who told her that Siemens was having a heart attack. Foster then climbed into a vehicle and drove away. On entering the house, Milner found her friend lying on the floor in the laundry room.
Siemens was face-down and bleeding profusely from head wounds. Upon closer inspection, Milner could see rope wrapped tightly around her neck, as well as more rope that was wound around her ankles and limbs.
Victim Says Torture is an Understatement to Describe What She Had Endured
In the televised series, Siemens says to describe what she had endured as torture would be an understatement, and a law enforcement officer describes the scene as the most horrific he had ever encountered in all of his years on the police force.
Foster, who was also wanted on charges of attempted murder, kidnapping, and assault, was arrested after a nationwide manhunt in January 2023, shortly after the attack on Siemens.
At the time, police warned that 36-year-old Foster could be luring his victims with the help of dating apps. Police also warned that Foster could have changed his appearance by cutting and coloring his hair, and shaving his beard.
The manhunt ended on January 2023 after Foster, hiding from police in a crawl space under Siemens’ home, shot himself in the head with a .45 caliber pistol.
“Dating the Devil” also includes interviews with two women who had gone out with Foster when he lived in Las Vegas, Nevada, before his return to Oregon. One of the women was violently attacked, while the other was held captive before escaping and admitted to the hospital with black eyes, broken ribs, and suffering from signs of other physical abuse.
Foster Spent Only One Day in Jail for Attack on Siemens
The most chilling fact about these crimes is that Foster spent only a single day in prison for his attack on Justine Siemens. He was credited with the 729 days he had spent in jail awaiting trial.
Her friend, Angela Milner, says Siemens suffered a great disservice by the justice system. She believes that if reports by victims of his earlier crimes (Las Vegas) had been taken more seriously, Foster would not have had the freedom to brutalize Siemens.
