Oregon Deli Delivery Van Stolen While Workers Are Still in The Back

Early on Friday morning, a work van belonging to the Elephant Delicatessen was stolen from the 2600 Block of SE Mailwell Street, Milwaukie, Oregon, while it was running and being loaded by workers for the day. The thief drove off with one worker still in the back of the van.

Milwaukie Police responded to reports of the theft of a van with an employee still in the back.

Witnesses indicated that the worker jumped to safety shortly after the van had been taken, sustaining only minor injuries. Police were initially unable to locate the van after conducting an area search.

The police said they would monitor the vehicle’s location after being informed that the van was equipped with a GPS tracking device by Elephant Delicatessen employees. The deli’s employees later reported spotting the van in Portland.

They gave updates to law enforcement based on the GPS data. After the truck was located, Beaverton Police assisted in apprehending the suspect, who was identified as 29-year-old Forrest Lee Guayante of Aberdeen, Washington, who was taken into custody.

Guayante faces multiple charges, including unauthorized use of a vehicle, kidnapping, theft, fraudulent use of a credit card, and criminal mischief. The Clackamas County District Attorney’s Office will review the charges. No further information has been released at this stage.
