Ducks vs Boise State: Game Highlights
The ducks were determined to clean things up some after defeating Idaho just by 10. Big moments included:
- An 85-yard Tez Johnson punt return was perfect. After a couple of bounces, he picked up the ball and cut to the right, helping the Ducks take the lead.
- Noah Whittington’s 100-yard kickoff helped the Ducks tie the game after Boise State tailback Ashton Jeanty rambled for 70 yards gaining a brief 34-27 lead.
- Quarterback Dillon Gabriel’s throws were mainly successful, hitting Evan Stewart in stride to set up the first touchdown. He later found the middle for a 34-yard touchdown early in the second quarter, making it 14-10
- Boise State’s star tailback, Jeanty, had his moments and wound up with 192 yards, but 70 came on one play straight after a turnover.
- Oregon had several explosive plays, including a 59-yard pass play to Traeshon Holden who split the safeties in the middle of the field and dashed past them to tie at 20-20.
It didn’t all go the Ducks’ way and they were burned by penalties. Gabriel would rather have seen Stewart and Holden deep downfield and a few touchdowns were missed.
Some untimely turnovers and penalties that stalled drives could arguably have been avoided.
