Oregon Ducks vs Michigan Wolverines Game Highlights: Stellar Plays And Troublesome Injuries

Oregon Ducks’ 38-17 win over defending national champion Michigan Wolverines at The Big House in Ann Arbor on Saturday was a mix of stellar touchdowns with potentially devastating injuries to Tez Johnson and Marcus Harper.

But the win takes the Ducks to 9-0 for the first time since 2012, and just the third time in program history.

Michigan had 110,576 fans in attendance but the Ducks remained clean throughout the game, being called for just two penalties- a false start and an illegal man downfield in a tough environment. The highlights of the game included:

  • Dillon Gabriel earned two first-half touchdowns- one on the ground and one through the air, getting within one score (177) Case Keenum’s NCAA all-time career TD record of 178.
  • Running Back Noah Whittington was fully back from last season’s ACL injury after getting his feet under him in the last few weeks. He added two touchdowns on the ground with 36 rushing yards.
  • Terrance Ferguson and Jordan Burch returned to the field and while Ferguson hauled two catches for 34 yards and a near touchdown on his five targets, Burch racked up three tackles and 0.5 tackles for loss. Both players showed they were healthy once again after injury.

Oregon Ducks vs Michigan Wolverines Injuries

Oregon’s star wide receiver Tez Johnson took a pass to the right sideline on the first drive of the game but went down hard on his right shoulder.

Getting up slowly, he headed to the medical tent before retiring to the locker room, emerging in the second quarter in street clothes, with a sling on. Dan Lanning said they are still waiting for updates on Johnson’s status after the game, but said they would ‘figure it out” going forward.

Marcus Harper’s injury may result in a lot of shuffling for the Ducks to find the right fit. Harper left the field under his own power and walked out of the medical tent with what looked like ice on his knee late in the game.

Kawika Rodgers came in to replace Harper but no more detail is currently available on his injury.

The Ducks return home to face the Maryland Terrapins for the first time in program history next week.
