Oregon Gets Reprieve From Rain Thursday, But Showers Return Till Next Week

The Pacific Northwest has been experiencing a so-called bomb cyclone, a rapidly intensifying area of low pressure that builds as warm air takes over icy air, creating a stronger pressure gradient.

Gusty winds are one of the effects of the cycle, which  has now weakened and spun offshore,

The departure will provide a break in the rain on Thursday morning. Still, windy and wet conditions will return Thursday night and continue across the Northwest through next week.

While the rain will pass over on Friday, by Saturday morning, snow down to 4000′ elevation will return.
