Oregon’s Jordan James Stars in Ducks’ 31-10 win over Michigan State Spartans – Game Highlights

EUGENE, Ore — Despite a slow start by the Oregon Ducks to the Friday night match-up against the Michigan State Spartans, the defense stole the show to see the Ducks dominate, culminating in a decisive 31-10 win.

On the offensive, Quarterback Dillon Gabriel didn’t have a great night. He threw a pair of interceptions- one in the endzone and one on the two-yard line. It was fortunate that they went unpunished.

The defense shone, getting after Michigan State quarterback Aidan Chiles all night long and allowing just 10 points against backups in the fourth quarter. The Ducks finished with 5 sacks and 6 tackles for loss but Jordan James rushed for a career-high 151 yards in the first half alone.

The Jordans were the critical part of the game last night. Jordan James, a true junior from Tennessee, finished the night with 24 carries, for 166 yards and a TD.

After getting going early against Michigan State, he rushed for 41 yards on the first play of Oregon’s second drive of the game- the team’s longest rush of the season. From there, he stepped up and played a perfect game, leading the offensive unit for 60 minutes and earning the Ducks Wire Player of the Game.

James’ efficiency in running the ball is notable. As the Ducks’ frequently-used backup RB last season, James averaged 7.1 yards per carry- the highest in the PAC-12. He averaged 6.2 yards per carry this season and 6.9 last night. He may now be in the running for the Doak Walker Award, given to the nation’s best RB.

Had it not been for James’ spectacular game, Jordan Burch would have been the Player of the Game.

Playing his best game as a Duck so far, the senior defensive end racked up 4 tackles and 2.5 sacks.  He kept up constant pressure on MSU QB Aidan Chiles and clogged up the run game. Duck’s fans had an enjoyable night.
