Oregon K9 State Trooper Intercepts Douglas County Drug Shipment On I-5

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. — During a traffic stop on the Interstate 5 highway on Tuesday, an Oregon State Police K9 team intercepted heroin and fentanyl destined for Portland.

After a vehicle was pulled over for speeding at around 11:00 a.m. on Interstate 5 northbound near milepost 135 in Douglas County, a police officer observed signs of criminal activity and deployed a drug detection K9 trooper who identified fentanyl and heroin later established to be destined for Portland.

5.8 pounds of fentanyl and 5 pounds of heroin with suspected fentanyl were found during the search of the vehicle.

Dago Rodrigo Rodrigues, 22, the driver, and his passenger, Mateo Marin Peraza, 20, both of Oakland, California, were arrested at the scene for unlawful possession and delivery of fentanyl and heroin. The pair were subsequently lodged in the Douglas County Jail.
