Oregon Man Accused of Murdering His Mother’s Boyfriend to Receive Pre-Trial State-Paid Therapy Sessions
Sean Joseph Lynn, accused of murdering his mother’s boyfriend last August, will undergo 10 therapy sessions at a cost to the state of $163 a session, while he awaits trial in custody at the Lane County Jail.
Lynn’s attorney, Michael Hajarizadeh, succeeded in obtaining the approval of a judge after three attempts, according to court records.
Lynn is accused of murdering Derrick Adam Mckee (49), his mother’s long-term boyfriend, at a home in Coleman Road Coburg last August.
According to court records, Lynn may have acted in self-defense and has struggled to cope with allegations that he is responsible for the death of Mckee. He has also struggled to cooperate in his defense.
The defense attorney writes that Lynn is suffering from trauma and psychological distress and has difficulty reviewing case evidence or discussing case-related material.
Court documents reveal that the defense lawyer requested an independent therapist unrelated to the Oregon State Hospital. He said treatment options in jail are limited and hopes that therapy will help Lynn assist in his defense.
Lynn goes to trial in September.
