Oregon Man Allegedly Beat Dog to Death with a Golf Club
A 36-year-old man from Linn County is in custody after allegedly beating a dog to death with a golf club.
Man Alleges Dog Attacked Him
Michael Healy told Linn County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) deputies that the dog had attacked him, but there were no visible signs of any injuries.
Healy was transported to the Linn County Jail and charged with first-degree aggravated animal abuse.
LCSO responded to a 911 call from the caretaker of a property on South 9th Street late Thursday afternoon. The caretaker of the property told the dispatcher that a dog, who was inside the house for security reasons, had been killed in the home. The caretaker said the owner of the property had recently died.
The caretaker told the LCSO that the homeowner’s son, Michael Healy, had left the premises immediately before placing the 911 call.
Healy reported to the Lebanon Police Department that he had been attacked by the dog. He then returned to the home after he was contacted by LCSO deputies.
LCSO says Healy struck the dog several times with a golf club, allegedly after the animal had attacked him. Healy had no visible signs of injuries.
Healy, who did not live at the property, remains in custody and will appear in court on 10 February.
