Oregon Man Faces Manslaughter Charge After Crash Kills Daughter and Injures Two Other Children

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. — The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO)  arrested a 55-year-old Wolf Creek man, Ian Anthony Fleming, on charges of second-degree manslaughter after his 11-year-old daughter died when his pickup truck crashed on Monday afternoon.

Police indicated that driver impairment was a factor in the crash.

Responding to a motor vehicle crash on Oregon Department of Forestry land bordering the 1200 block of Tunnel Road in Glendale at about 1:30 pm Monday, DCSO deputies encountered a green Ford F250 pickup truck, which was reportedly occupied by Fleming and three juvenile females when the crash occurred.

The three children were thrown from the vehicle when it rolled multiple times down an embankment.

The children all sustained injuries, and Fleming got out of the vehicle on his own and tried to get medical care for his seriously injured daughter. He drove his daughter to the ambulance station on Tunnel Road in a borrowed vehicle, but Glendale Ambulance paramedics declared her deceased shortly after.

The paramedics transported the two other children to Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center in Medford for treatment.

After the crash, DCSO Detectives reported Fleming had fled but later returned to the crash site and was interviewed. Detectives determined alcohol and drugs played a role in the crash.  DCSO officers arrested Fleming for Manslaughter II and booked him into the Douglas County jail.
