Oregon Man Posing as an Appliance Repairman Accused of Swindling Thousands in Multi-County Scam
Kevin Glen Whiting (59) of Springfield has been charged with two counts of first-degree aggravated theft in the Lane County Circuit Court, according to court records.
His court appearance follows a string of incidents in which Whiting swindled thousands of dollars when he posed as an appliance repair man to clients in Benton, Coos, and Lane counties.
His court appearance relates to thefts that allegedly occurred between May and November 2023 and June and August 2023. Court records name his alleged victims as a couple from Lane County and a fast-food restaurant business in Bakersfield, California. The victims lost more than $10,000.
Whiting was previously sentenced to seven years and six months imprisonment for identity theft and computer crime. He is currently in prison for that sentence.
