Oregon Marsh Stops Armed Robbery Suspect Wanted in Mississippi

A man on the run from deputies surrendered when he became stuck in mud and high water in a Beaverton marsh in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Lamarcus Thomas (31) was sought by Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies for an outstanding armed robbery warrant in Mississippi.

The incident occurred at 2.30 a.m. when deputies tried to pull over a 2017 Audi Q7 for a traffic violation north of the Nike campus.

The driver failed to stop and later fled on foot before becoming bogged down in a Beaverton marsh. Deputies say Thomas was carrying a gun.

After his surrender, deputies found that Thomas was carrying a large sum of money. Although the amount was undisclosed, a photo released by the Sheriff’s Office shows 10 stacks of bills, each topped by a $100 bill.

A police dog, Blitz, found a gun with a 30-round magazine while searching the marsh.

Thomas was transported to the Washington County Jail and charged with driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless driving, attempting to elude a police officer, and a felon in possession of a firearm.
