Oregon Rapper ‘i5dap’ Indicted for Attempted Murder After Eugene Nightclub Incident
A Portland rapper, Desmond Boris Washington (39), has been indicted on charges of attempted murder and assault following a shooting in a Eugene nightclub last December.
Washington was found guilty in the Lane County Circuit Court on charges of attempted second-degree murder, first-and-third degree assault, and the unlawful use of a gun following the December 8 shooting at the City Nights club.
The shooting took place at about 2 a.m., and when police arrived on the scene, they found two injured patrons after someone had fired a gun inside a Eugene nightclub.
One of the men was seriously injured and taken to hospital, while the other man injured in the incident was treated and released.
Federal agents found a Taurus .45 caliber pistol at the apartment of Washington’s girlfriend that they tied to the rapper. The gun was inside a drawer of the master bedroom dresser and lay beside an ‘i5dap’ pendant, Washington’s rap music moniker.
The rap artist’s lawyer told the Lane County Circuit Court that Washington used the pistol in his music videos ‘in the creation of art.’ Washington apologized to the federal judge, saying people learned from their mistakes.
Washington’s Criminal Convictions
At the time of the shooting, Washington was on federal supervised release.
Washington served four years after being found guilty of possession of a stolen gun as a felon and released from prison in February 2023.
The rapper was found guilty by a federal jury of gun possession as a felon in November 2020. That was his third gun-related conviction. In May 2021 he was sentenced to four years imprisonment, followed by three years of supervision.
