Oregon Residents Can Voice Opinions on Avista’s Proposed 9.2% Natural Gas Rate Hike

The public is invited to a virtual event on Tuesday, February 11, to comment on Avista’s proposed natural gas rate increase in Oregon.

The  Public Utility Commission (PUC) has made a public platform available for input on Avista’s proposed overall revenue increase of $7.8 million.

This would increase the monthly natural gas bill of residential customers living in single-family homes using an average of 47 therms by $4.39- an overall 9.2 percent increase. The company says the revenue is needed to invest in its system.

Avista’s proposal has been reviewed by the PUC, the Oregon Citizens’ Utility Board, and other groups for a year and includes opportunities for public comment, as set down for Tuesday.

The Avista proposed rates event runs from 6 to 7 p.m. online and can be accessed at this Zoom link. During the event, the public can give written and live comments to the Commissioners and the Administrative Law Judge presiding over the case.
