Oregon State Beavers vs UNLV Rebels Game Highlights
Saturday night’s game at Reser Stadium didn’t play out in the Beaver’s favor in the second half when their offense came up almost empty and UNLV’s Hajj-Malik Williams accounted for 3 touchdowns. Highlights of the game included:
- Although OSU opened the game up with Everett Hayes making a short field goal after an 11-play drive to the two-yard line, UNLV replied almost identically, driving to the two-yard line before deciding on a field goal in their opening drive.
- While Jam Griffin’s absence was felt in the game, of the total yards on the ground, over half were racked up by Gervani McCoy, OSU’s leading rusher, who finished with 81 yards, although six sackings knocked 38 yards off his net total.
- Anthony Hankerson carried the ball 17 times over 61 yards and scored a touchdown.
- In the third quarter, the Rebels only allowed 10 yards of offense.
- In their second possession, the Beavers took the ball to the one-yard line, where McCoy ran a quarterback sneak right behind Van Wells and Joshua Gray for his first rushing touchdown of the night. In the longest run of his career, McCoy later answered a second field goal with a 71-yard scramble for a touchdown a few plays later.
- On defense, the Beavers were outclassed by UNLV quarterback Hajj-Malik Williams’ two running and one thrown touchdown.
- With just two minutes left, Jack Kane picked off Williams, giving the Beavers their final chance to tie the game. In a tense moment, OSU drove to the six-yard line, but McCoy’s pass fell to the turf on the final play.
