Oregon State Police Appeal for Information Regarding Alleged Elk Poachers

JACKSON COUNTY, Ore — Three alleged elk poachers are being sought by the Oregon State Police (OSP) and Wildlife Division.

The OSP has appealed to the public to help identify three people involved into two separate incidents of illegal elk poaching and trespassing. The incidents took place in Central Point near the intersection of Crater Lake Avenue and McLoughlin Drive on September 8 and 10.

A 5 x 5 bull elk was illegally killed in the first incident when one of the suspects left the animal to waste on private property. Two days later, a suspect attempted to kill another bull elk but fled the scene when confronted by the landowner.

 

Information Could Lead to a $1,000 Reward

Anyone with information who can assist the OSP could earn a $1,000 reward, or four Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife preference points. Contact Turn-In-Poachers (TIP) line at 1-800-452-7888 or by email at [email protected].

TIP is a collaborative program between various state agencies that encourages people to report wildlife violations or habitat destruction involving elk, deer and wolves, by offering incentives as a reward. The TIP line is available for reporting any wildlife and habitat law violations.
