Oregon Veterinarian Labeled a Monster by his Former Lover at His Life Sentencing Yesterday

The former lover of a well-known and respected Oregon City veterinarian labeled him a monster when he was sentenced to life imprisonment yesterday (Tuesday) for murdering her husband in the garage of the Intel campus in Hillsboro.

A Sobbing Tanya Fandrich Told How She Was Finally Left a Widow

A sobbing Tanya Fandrich (56) told the court how Steven Milner stalked her, drove her husband Kenneth Fandrich to drink, and finally left her a widow.

Tanya Fandrich worked at Milner’s practice as a technician for years and admitted they had an affair in 2017. She went on to describe how Milner could not accept her decision to end the affair and ensued to make her and her husband’s lives a misery.

Milner sat impassively throughout her testimony, occasionally looking at her directly as she gave evidence.

Milner was found guilty of second-degree murder last month by a Washington County jury, as well as guilty of violating a stalking order on multiple occasions. He strangled Kenneth Fandrich to death in the Intel garage on 27 January 2023.

At that hearing, prosecutors told how on the day of the murder Milner lay in wait for Fandrich to enter the garage after completing his shift. Milner had spray-painted the surveillance camera lens domes and parked his old van alongside his victim’s car.

Obscured footage showed Fandrich’s headlights flashing briefly and shadows could be seen between his car and Milner’s old van. Prosecutors said Milner grabbed Fandrich when he reached his car, pulled him into his van, and killed him with a chokehold.

At the sentencing hearing, the court was told how Milner could not accept the breakup of his romance with Tanya Fandrich and began harassing the couple.

He placed tracking devices in their vehicles and even planted a condom in one of the cars in an attempt to break up their marriage. He also portrayed Kenneth Fandrich as a wife-beater.

Milner was at the Root of her Marriage Problems

In her testimony yesterday, Tanya Fandrich said that Milner was at the root of her marriage troubles – his invasive interference in their lives drove her husband to drink and he would then blame her for their problems.

Tanya Fandrich was also critical of the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office which she blamed for failing to protect her and her husband from Milner. Despite repeatedly reporting stalking incidents, the sheriff’s office failed to take her seriously, she claimed.

Senior Deputy District Attorney John Gerhard called for a life term from Circuit Judge Erik Buchér who then imposed a life sentence with the possibility of parole after 25 years.

The defense offered no statement, and Milner chose not to address the court.
