Oregon Woman Accused of Setting Boyfriend’s Home on Fire and Stealing Witness’s Debit Card
A woman accused of setting fire to the Crescent Meadows home of her boyfriend’s parents in Eugene last summer, then allegedly stole a debit card from a witness to the arson.
She was on Bail and Wearing an Ankle Monitor
Jasmine Wright was on bail and wearing an ankle monitor when she used the card to buy four tickets to shows costing $1,300.
The accusation was made after a fire at a home in the family-friendly Eugene neighborhood in the early morning hours of 6 July 2024.
The front porch was allegedly doused in flammable liquid and set alight, but the incident was captured on a security camera. No injuries were reported.
Months after the fire, a witness to the event told police that Wright had stolen his mother’s debit card after the couple argued.
The tickets were for shows at the Hult Center – Dear Evan Hansen, Chicago, Hadestown, and Champions of Magic. The IP address from which the purchases were made was traced back to Wright, who was on bail for the arson incident.
An investigation revealed that Wright had attended one of the shows but could not gain entry to a second show because the ticket had been canceled, following the report of the debit card theft.
Wright is scheduled to appear in court on 31 July. Two additional charges have been added to the arson case, including first-degree and identity theft.
