Oregon Woman Arrested After Allegedly Attacking Her Partner with a Knife
Amanda Bendshadler (39) was arrested by Springfield police on Monday night following an incident of domestic violence in which her partner was injured.
The saga began to unfold shortly after 7 p.m. when the police responded to a call from the victim, who lived in an RV with Bendshadler in the 18th & M St area.
On arrival, the victim told police that he and his partner had become involved in a verbal argument and that she had left the scene.
The police returned to the scene a few hours later after the victim called 911, saying that Bendshadler was armed with a knife and trying to hurt him. The police found several bite wounds on the victim, as well as cuts and scratches on his face and torso. His clothing had been sliced.
The victim said he had managed to wrestle the knife away from Bendshadler and leave the RV before contacting 911.
Police saw the woman inside the RV, but she refused to exit at their request. The officers then used PepperBall, like pepper spray, to force her out of the vehicle. Still, she remained inside the RV.
Finally, police entered the RV and removed Bendshadler, who continued to resist arrest.
She was transported to the Lane County Jail and charged with second-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, and aggravated assault.
