Oregonians Can Help Eradicate Invasive Ivy at Sunset Bay State Park to Honor Earth Day

To honor Earth Day, the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department invites Oregonians to join rangers at Sunset Bay State Park, Coos Bay, to help remove invasive English ivy from the landscape.

The event will be from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday 26 April when the public can help park rangers identify and eradicate the invasive species of ivy, classified as a weed.

Gloves, Snacks, and Bottled Water Will be Provided

Volunteers must dress in comfortable clothing that will get dirty, and wear closed-toed shoes. They will be provided with tools, gloves, snacks, and bottled water.

Be prepared to travel on uneven ground.

Volunteers must gather at Yoakum Point, ¼ mile from Sunset Bay Park’s day-use area when driving south. The physical address is 90064 Cape Arago Highway, with the trailhead on the west side of the highway, and the parking lot on the east side.
