Pedestrian Killed In Car Crash Outside Ashland: Driver Arrested
ASHLAND, Ore. — Following a fatal motor vehicle accident near Ashland last night after a minivan collided with a pedestrian, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) launched an investigation. A suspect, the driver of the vehicle, was arrested and is currently in police custody.
Pedestrian Victim In Ashland Crash Dies
Responding to an emergency call received at 9:35 PM by the Emergency Communications of Southern Oregon (ECSO) Dispatch on Saturday, June 29- about a pedestrian injured in the 500 block of South Valley View Road, JCSO deputies, together with officers from the Ashland Police Department and an Ashland Fire ambulance, responded promptly.
At the scene, the suspect vehicle and the injured pedestrian, Mark David Langille, 50, of New Mexico were found.
Langille was transported to a local hospital but later succumbed to his injuries. His next-of-kin has been informed.

Driver Arrested After Ashland Pedestrian Fatality
Jackson County’s Medical Examiner detectives and Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction (STAR) Team were brought in to assist in the investigation. Investigators from JCSO as well as the Medford and Central Point Police Departments Police Departments are part of the Star team.
The driver of the suspect vehicle- a minivan, was taken into custody, and police obtained a search warrant to draw blood. If charges are laid, the suspect’s name will be released if charges.
Currently, charges against the suspect remain pending as investigators await a mechanical inspection of the vehicle and toxicology reports in their investigation. No further information is available at the moment as deputies and the STAR Team pursue additional leads.
