Police Following Leads Into Skeletal Remains Found In Jacksonville
JACKSONVILLE, Ore. — Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) published a report on Facebook about the skeletal remains discovered Sunday, April 14 outside Jacksonville in the Applegate area. The JCSO Search and Rescue and medical examiners who responded transversed rugged terrain to recover the remains and detectives are now investigating.
Investigations into Skeletal Remains Discovered In Rural Jacksonville
JCSO detectives indicated that the precise location where the remains were found was not being disclosed at the time because of the ongoing investigation. The medical examiner’s office will also conduct additional testing as the remains were found in an advanced state of decomposition.
The identity of the deceased and the cause of death are the subject of a JCSO detectives investigation. While no further information has been made available, detectives are following additional leads.
Missing Persons In Jackson County
Oregon State Police list of missing persons shows 76 missing persons from Jackson County. Some of the people are listed as missing since the 1980s and 90s and the oldest cases on the list are Richey Thomas William (missing since July 7, 1950), Jay Calvin Pringle who went missing on April 19, 1977, Edward Chester Nye who went missing on June 22, 1978, and Christi Lynn Farni who went missing on December 14, also in 1978.
No links have been made between the skeletal remains and any of the missing persons.
