Portland Police Interdiction Nets Arrests With Seizures Of Drugs, Guns And Stolen Vehicles
PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland Police Officers from the East Precinct conducted a major criminal interdiction operation in East Portland in collaboration with the Bureau’s Neighborhood Response Teams (NRT) and the Narcotics & Organized Crime Unit (NOC) on Sunday, December 15th, 2024, that resulted in significant drug seizures and the recovery of multiple firearms and stolen vehicles.
Portland Police Mission Leads to Arrests And Seizures
The Portland Police Bureau (PPB), assisted by the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office, set out to apprehend individuals selling and using narcotics within the East Portland community.
Known open drug use locations at Southeast 122nd Avenue and East Burnside Street, Southeast 148th Avenue and East Burnside Street, and the 82nd Avenue corridor were targeted to address drug possession and distribution.
Several people were taken into custody during the operation, which resulted in 13 custodies, 17 felony charges, 15 misdemeanor charges, and two criminal citations. Eight felony arrest warrants were executed, and police issued six misdemeanor arrest warrants and one violation citation.
There were 18 vehicle stops, during which three vehicles eluded stopping, two vehicle pursuits, and five vehicles were towed. Police seized 3 Stolen vehicles, 2 Illegally possessed firearms, 3.4g Methamphetamine, and 147g Cocaine. At least one case is being considered for federal charges.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office and the FBI were also directly involved in the operation. Additional missions are planned as police seek to address ongoing public safety challenges.
