Portland Police Say Alcohol Played a Key Role in an Accident that Claimed the Lives of Two Women

Court records reveal that a warrant for the arrest of Kim Hien Nguyen (58) has been issued for a head-on collision in Portland on Thanksgiving Day in which two women died. Police say alcohol played a key role in the accident.

On Tuesday, a Multnomah County Circuit Court grand jury returned an 11-count indictment on Nguyen, who also stands accused of driving under the influence of intoxicants.

Police say that Nguyen was driving westwards on Northeast Lombard Street when he collided head-on with a Honda HRV driven by Alan Little.

Andrea J. Doering (46), of Portland, died on the scene. She was a backseat passenger in the Honda HRV driven by her father, Alan Little.

The other woman, Patricia J. Esler (75), also from Portland, was a passenger in the front of the vehicle, sitting alongside her husband, Alan Little. She was critically injured and died in hospital a few days later.

Little was also injured in the accident and spent several days in hospital.

According to the police, Nguyen was seriously injured in the accident and rushed to hospital.

Nguyen is also accused of reckless driving, four counts of reckless endangerment, two counts of second-degree criminal mischief, and third-degree assault.

State prosecutors have told the court that they are against offering Nguyen any diversion program in connection with the charge of driving under the influence.

Court records reveal that a warrant has been issued for his arrest.

According to a GoFundMe page, Little needs emotional and financial support. To date, $14,000 has been donated to help with medical expenses, funeral costs, and other needs arising from the aftermath of the family tragedy.

Andrea Doering was a custodian at Twality Middle School in Tigard, and her father works as a custodian at Byrom Elementary School in Tualatin.
