Portland Trail Blazers Extend Skid To 4 Games Against Los Angeles Lakers

The Portland Trail Blazers went into Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers hoping to end a three-game skid. The Lakers ended their three-game skid, but Portland extended theirs to four games by losing 98-107, despite the absence of LeBron James on the Lakers team.

After losing seven of their previous nine games, a left foot contusion kept James out of the Lakers game. Max Christie started his second game for the team, scoring four points with four rebounds.

Despite this, the Trail Blazers faced a stifling defense and came up short despite a good third quarter. The highlights of the game included:

  • By the end of the third quarter, the Blazers had closed the gap, winning the period 29-18 and trailing 74-77.
  • In the fourth quarter, the Lakers’ D’Angelo Russell, who stood in for Austin Reaves, who was nursing a pelvic injury, scored 28 points and a season-high 14-assist performance- with one steal, helping the Lakers to a 107-98 victory despite being in a reserve role.
  • Anthony Davis added 30 points and had 11 rebounds, an assist, and two steals for the Lakers, and Rui Hachimura scored 23 points, 14 of which were in the second quarter alone that helped the Lakers end the first half at 59-45 a first-period deficit.
  • Shaedon Sharpe led with 19 points for Portland, and  Deandre Ayton added 14 points and 19 rebounds.
  • Anfernee Simons logged 14 points, 1 rebound, and 4 assists, while Scoot Henderson contributed 13 points, 2 rebounds, and a steal.
