On Friday, the Portland Trail Blazers were leading the match against the New Orleans Pelicans until there was a little over 8 minutes on the clock. The nerve-racking last minutes of the game saw the Pelicans take the win at 105-103.

In a nail-biting game, there were many key moments on Friday:

  • In the first quarter, the Blazers jumped out to a 27-15 lead, holding on to a double-digit lead throughout most of the half. By the break, they led 47-37.
  • The Trail Blazers continued their lead until Pelican’s CJ McCollum made a 3-pointer and floater, tying the game at 91 with just 8:20 minutes to go, followed by free throws by Jordan Hawkins that put the Pelicans in the lead which they extended to 97-91 on Daniel Theis’ layup.
  • With 4,9 seconds left, a jumper from Brandon Ingram as the Pelicans rallied from behind delivered the winning shot.
  • With 2.24 left, Portland’s Anfernee Simons’ jumper put the Trail Blazers back in the lead, playing back and forth down the stretch until Ingram’s game-end winner.
  • After missing the team’s opener due to illness, Zion Williamson was in the starting lineup and finished with 16 points. With 24 points, Hawkins led the Pelicans.
  • In the first half, Rookie Trail Blazers big man Donovan Clingan was on the court for just seven minutes, returning in the third quarter to strip Yves Missi of a rebound from behind. With the layup, Cligan drew a foul, finishing with four points and four blocks in 14 minutes.
  • For the Blazers, Jerami Grant ended his game with 34 points, including eight 3-pointers, beating his previous best from Cleveland in 2022 of a seven-set.
