Portland Trail Blazers Struggle To Get Lead Over Sacramento Kings – Game Highlights

The Sacramento Kings gave the Portland Trail Blazers the runaround on Monday night. The Blazers never managed to take the lead throughout the game, which ended with a final score of 98-111. This gave the Kings their first win this season after they lost their first two games by a combined six points.

 

Portland Trail Blazers vs Sacramento Kings Game Highlights

Following their win against the New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday, Monday’s game against the Sacramento Kings added to the Blazer’s loss tally.  Their poor shooting and turnovers led to a loss against the Kings, but the highlights of the game included:

  • DeAndre Ayton joined Bill Walton as one of the only players in franchise history to start a season with four straight double-doubles and had 20 points and 11 rebounds for the Blazers,
  • Kings guard De‘Aaron Fox made a 3-pointer in the third quarter that saw him become the fifth player in franchise history to reach the 10,000 mark.
  • DeRozan gave the Kings a 51-43 lead by adding 19 points at the half, making 9 of 10 three throws and hitting a contested jumper at the buzzer.
  • For the Kings, Domantas Sabonis had 16 points and 13 rebounds while Kevin Huerter added 18 points.
  • The Trail Blazers, the league’s worst 3-point shooting team last season,  had shot 39% from 3-point range over their last two games but were just 4 of 22 from deep against the Kings.
  • Until late in the fourth quarter, the Kings held the Blazers without a fast-break point and made 23 of its 25 free throw attempts. Expanding a 60-58 lead midway through the third quarter to 26 points in the fourth, the Kings never trailed.
