Resilient Oregon State Beavers End 2024 Season With A Loss To Boise State Broncos
Despite playing a better game than most expected, the Oregon State Beavers ended their season with a 5-7 record after losing 34-18 to No. 11 Boise State on Friday.
The Beavers went 3-of-13 on third downs, while Boise State was 8-of-15. Oregon’s 25 minutes of possession also fell short of Boise State’s 35 minutes.

After a slow start, achieving just six total yards in the first two drives, a touchdown run by Anthony Hankerson marked the fifth-longest run in Oregon State history, but the Beavers couldn’t overcome the Bronco’s dominance despite pulling within 27-18 early in the fourth quarter and putting up a good fight. The highlights of the game included:
- In a standout performance, Anthony Hankerson rushed for 110 yards and scored with a remarkable 83-yard touchdown run. Hankerson led the Beavers and surpassed 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
- Ben Gulbranson threw for 226 yards and a touchdown, and Maddux Madsen was 17-of-33 passing for 195 yards for Boise State, throwing for two TDs and rushing for one.
- Ashton Jeanty rushed for 226 yards and a touchdown for the Broncos, moving him into fifth place among FBS all-time single-season rushing leaders, 54 yards behind fourth-place Marcus Allen. Record-holder Barry Sanders rushed for 2,628 yards in 1988, leaving Jeanty with 340 yards still to go in the two games to play.

The Oregon State Beavers missed out on bowl eligibility this year after losing 25 players to the transfer portal a year ago, leaving first-year coach Trent Bray to prioritize retaining critical players as he fills next season’s roster.
The Beavers will host California next year on August 30 to open the 2025 season.
