“Paranormal Activity” came out in 2007 and shows how a new house in a middle-class suburb that a couple moves into seems to be haunted by some wicked entity.

A Rotten Tomatoes critic said it’s scarier than Blair Witch because it’s not shot in some abandoned house in a forest, but resonates with ordinary people because it could have been you and your house.

The Ringer’s Sean Fennessey said the movie is a found-footage phenomenon that dollar-for-dollar is one of the most financially successful movies ever made.

“Paranormal Activity” grossed $193 million on an estimated $15,000 budget. Five sequels followed as it elevated producer Jason Blum into being regarded as the top horror impresario of the decade.

Get your orange lights, pumpkin spice lattes, and candy ready before you watch “Paranormal Activity” because you may not want to miss a moment. And you may also want to check for any demons that could be lurking before you hit the play button.
