Small Wildfire Near Eagle Point 100% Contained

JACKSON COUNTY, Ore. — A small wildfire covering around 3 acres near the intersection of Highway 234 and Agate Road near the solar panel fields was successfully contained by firefighting crews from Jackson County Fire District 3 and the Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) on Monday.

Investigation To Follow 100% Contained Eagle Point Fire

In an area previously impacted by a bulldozer line, firefighters responded aggressively to the blaze. After quickly gaining control, the fire was 100% wet-lined by 2:30 PM, with water applied to the surrounding vegetation to prevent further spread. Additional lines were also dug to strengthen containment efforts. Mop-up operations are now underway.

While the fire was initially identified as a Type 1 helicopter, this was later canceled as crews on the ground gained control quickly.

The final estimate puts the burned area at 4 acres but officials again reminded the public to remain alert as fire danger remains high in the region because of ongoing warm and dry conditions and fire restrictions remain in place.

An investigation into the cause of the fire has been launched as officials urge the community to help prevent future fires by following current fire regulations.
