Stolen Labrador-Pitbull Puppy Returned Safely to Oregon Humane Society

The theft and safe return of a nine-week-old cross Labrador-Pitbull puppy from the Oregon Humane Society on Monday night led to police intervention and dozens of tips from animal-loving public members.

“Fireball’ is a gorgeous chocolate brown puppy and has been safely returned to the organization’s Portland facility on Northeast Columbia Boulevard.

Unlike the modus operandi of a kidnapping, instead of a ransom demand by ‘kidnappers’ for the pup’s return, the Oregon Humane Society offered a $500 reward for information.

Suspect Hid Puppy Under His Shirt

Security camera footage shows how ‘Fireball’ was grabbed and hidden under the shirt of a ‘kidnapper’ at about 7 p.m. after four people entered the premises.

Several hours after the theft, Portland Police received a tip-off from the parents of a teenager who is one of the suspects. Sgt. Kevin Allen says that arrangements were made with the parents for the police to pick up the puppy and return it to the Oregon Humane Society.

Laura Klink, spokesperson for the Oregon Humane Society, says the organization is grateful for all the tips it received from the public and to the Portland Police for assisting with the safe return of “Fireball.’

No charges have been filed against any of the suspects at this stage, says Sgt. Allen.
