The Witcher Star Kim Bodnia Won’t Be Returning to The Role of Vesemir For Season 4
The Witcher star, Kim Bodnia was cast in the next season of the Netflix fantasy drama, The Witcher but won’t be returning to the role of Vesemir. Bodnia is moving on to the Apple TV+ original film F1 and The Witcher’s filming clashed with his schedule.
The Witcher’s New Cast
After Henry Cavill’s controversial departure, The Hunger Games alum Liam Hemsworth was brought onto the cast. Kim Bodnia who plays Vesemir is leaving too.
His new project- F1, and The Witcher season 4 were initially set to start filming at different times, but 2023’s Writers Guild of America and Screen Actors Guild strikes caused disruptions to the schedules which changed drastically.
No announcement has been forthcoming about who will step up to replace Bodnia, but the role is expected to be recast.
The new actor will have big shoes to fill. Hemsworth also has a challenge lying ahead stepping into Cavill’s role. The Witcher co-star Freya Allan said that Hemsworth has been training for the role and that, “I feel like he’s really wanting to try and bring the heart.”
Allan noted that fans can be difficult to please and while it may not be ideal to fill the role created by someone else, she is excited to see what Hemsworth does. She said, “He’s such a lovely guy. I just hope that people give him the time of day.”
Kim Bodnia’s New Role On Apple+ F1 Film
On The Witcher 4, Killing Eve star Bodnia’s spokesperson said, “Kim will not return as Vesemir as his current shooting diary didn’t fit in with Netflix’s shooting schedule of The Witcher season 4.”
The clash- Apple TV+’s F1 film, is directed by Top Gun: Maverick’s Joseph Kosinski and stars Brad Pitt as a retired driver returning to the grid to compete against the “titans of the sport”.
Bodnia is slated as a character named Kaspar in the film on a star-studded cast with Pitt, Javier Bardem (Monsters), Kerry Condon (The Banshees of Inisherin), Sarah Niles (Ted Lasso), and Tobias Menzies (The Crown).
Because the F1 movie had to incorporate footage of real races, filming must take place over real Grand Prix weekends, making the timing sensitive.
The Witcher season 4 is due for release between July and September next year on Netflix.
