Train Car Lands In River Outside Corvallis After Mary’s River Bridge Collapses

CORVALLIS, Ore. — Police and firefighters from the Corvallis Fire Department responded to reports that a train car operated by Portland & Western Railroad (PNWR) had derailed around 12:08 p.m. on Saturday after the bridge over the Marys River in Corvallis collapsed. The incident destabilized two other train cars.

Corvallis Police indicated a train trestle collapsed while a  19-car freight train traversed the bridge. There are no known injuries, but the area remains an active scene and investigation.

PNWR is cooperating with first responders, and the ecological recovery company, Northwest Firefighters, is working to contain any substances that could have leaked into the river.
