The 9-1-1 caller indicated that one of the vehicle’s occupants was trapped inside the overturned car. Emergency crews found the vehicle on its roof on arrival. One occupant was still trapped inside and the other had been ejected from the vehicle.
The trapped occupant was extracted by the Illinois Valley Fire Department personnel. A Mercy Flights helicopter transported one of the occupants and the other was transported by AMR Ambulance.
Both were taken to Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center (RRMC) in Medford for treatment. Hospital staff later reported that both were in a stable condition.
On the scene, the base of a power pole near the vehicle had been completely severed. Witnesses said the vehicle was driving at high speed and had passed another car in a no-passing zone. It then lost control on a curve, crashing into the power pole.
