West Medford School In Secure Mode: Police Hunt For Suspect

MEDFORD, Ore. — The Medford Police Department (MPD) has placed McLoughlin Middle School in secure mode following a vehicle elude incident in West Medford.

The suspect has not been found, and although the police perimeter has been lifted, police are continuing to check the area.

 

McLoughlin Middle School In Secure Mode After Vehicle Elude Incident

A police presence was established near 4th Street and Oakdale Avenue on Tuesday following a vehicle pursuit in West Medford.

The driver fled law enforcement and subsequently abandoned the car before continuing on foot.

Police established a perimeter in the area in an effort to locate the suspect and McLoughlin Middle School implemented Secure status as a precaution during the initial response. The measures were later lifted after authorities determined there was no immediate threat to students or staff.

Normal operations have resumed.

Although the suspect is still at large, MPD has secured the vehicle involved, and their investigations continue. They are also checking the surrounding area further and have advised residents to remain alert and report any suspicious activity.
