White City Biker Dies In Central Point After Being Hit By Car

In a tragic accident in rural Central Point early Tuesday morning, a White City man, after being hit by a car on the shoulder of Foothill Rd.

Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) officers responded to an Emergency Communications of Southern Oregon (ECSO) Dispatch 911 call from the green 2021 Toyota 4Runner driver at 4:44 a.m.

Jackson County Fire District 3 and Mercy Flights also responded to the call, and the biker, 45-year-old Matthew Edward Davenport, was taken to a local hospital but pronounced dead at 5:42 a.m. His next of kin have been notified.

Jackson County’s Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction (STAR) Team investigators indicated that the Toyota 4Runner was traveling southbound when it hit the biker. According to JCSO,  no criminal charges have been filed and the driver is cooperating with investigators.
